1947 divided into India and Pakistan

Child workers in India

Food

Six steps to a healthier diet
Start at step 1 and keep working at it until it becomes a habit. While continuing to do this, add step 2 then and so on.
Step1 – increase variety: at leas one prope meal a day, at least three new foods a week
Step2 – concentrate on fibre: six portions of fruits or vegetables a day, one of them pease, lentils (Linsen) or spinach
Step3 – More about fibre: from white to wholemeal bread, 3 portions of whole grain (Vollkorn) breakfast cereal a week
Step4 – Look out for visible fat: remove meat fat and chicken skin, spread butter thinly, grill or bake instead of frying
Step5 – Get to grips with invisible fat: from whole milk to (semi-)skimmed milk, max. 50g hard cheese a week, chips or crisps only once a week, at leas two fish meals a week
Step6 – Consolidate: look back and keep to the plan, don't overdo fibre, don't cut out all fat

Breakfast types
corny: cornflakes, sugar, milk, whit coffee (poor nutritional (Ernährungs-) value)
nutty: usnweeted juice, muesli with skimmed milk wholemeal toast, black coffee (good nutritional value)
fruity: an apple, an orange, a pear (very good for fibre and vitamins)
minimalist: black of white coffee (gives you nothing but a kick)
maximalist: porridge, fried bacon, fried egg, tomato, sausages, fried bread, toast with butter and jam, tea (very high on calories, nearly 100% of daily fat limit, too much salt, too little fibre)

Route 66

4000km long, built between 1926 and 1937, crosses 8 states and 3 time zones, nicknames „Main Street of America“ and „Mother Road“, partly replaced by the interstate highways, represents freedom and a golden, romantic area in the American history

Chicago (look at the topic of Chicago)
Springfield: house of Abraham Lincoln, but unfortunately not the Simpsons
St.Louis: Gateway Arch, the city's landmarkbuilt in 1966 to celebrate the city's reputation (Ruf) as the gateway to the west; Forest Park's Muny Opera is the largest open-air theatre in the US and a great place for life music
Amarillo: Cadillac Ranch, built in 70s by agroup alternative artist „Ant Farm“ to pay tribute to America's best automobile company that had introduced tail bins (symbl of modern America), ten cadillacs front first in the ground so that the back ends with the bins stick up in the air, every vistior can spray whateve they like on the cars, the Cadillac Ranch was moved in 1991 as the city limits of Amarillo were expanding and threatening the old site
Santa Fe: popular with tourist, very expensive place, art galleries, chic restaurants, you can go for some widow shoping but pobably won't by many things
Flagstaff, Arizona: If you leave Rout 66 at the town of Flagstaff to the north, you will reach Grand Canyon NP soon
Grand Canyon NP: visited by 5 million visitors a year, Colorado river weaving 450km long through the vast plateau, sports like hiking and canoeing
Las Vegas: If you drive to the west you'll reach Las Vegas after passing the border of California (look at the topic of Las Vegas),
Yosemite NP: North west of Las Vegas, Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Half Dome, sequoia trees, popular with climbers and hikers
Los Angeles: Return to Roue 66 and drive to LA (look at the topic of LA)

Smoking and Drugs

Theories about why people start taking drugs
The „weak personality“ theory: escape from problems
The „evil pusher“ theory: pusher ticks people in trying them so that they can get addicted
The „doesn't know any better“ theory: stupid people don't understand the dangers
The „rebel“ theory: rebel agains parents or society, just because it's illegal
The „curiosity“ theory: curious about effects
The „pleasure“ theory: like effects
The „fashion“ theory: because its cool
The „inwith-the-crowd“ theory: want belong to a group
The „because-it-is-offered“ theory: no reason, just take it if it's offered

Diseases caused by smokig
Coronary heart disease: raises blood pressure and heart beat, gives less oxygen than normal, that puts a strain (Belastung) on heart muscle, thicks walls of blood vessels and makes it more difficult to pump it
Coronory thrombosis: blood more sticky, clots more easily, clot of blood blocks a big vessel supplying the heart, heart get too little blood
Cancer: cells start to multiply wildly and without stpping because of irritation caused by cemicals that come from smoking, lumps of the cell can break away and continue growing elsewhere
Bronchitis: smoker's caugh is an early sign, lugs are not able to get rid of the mucus, tiny hairs that bring the mucus u into the throat are destroyed by smoke, makes it also easier to get infections and this is bronchitis
Emphysema: lung walls are destroyed, makes it hard to breath

French Anti-smoking campaign should be considered as an example for a measure against smoking especially among teenagers, is it effecive?
Think about other measures that could keep teenagers away from smoking!

Ecstasy
can make you feel happy, can cause brain damage, long term effects are uknown, tiny blood vessls can rupture or block, in the brain thin can lead to paralysis or coma, can be cut with dangerous substances, can damge your liver and kidneys, girls can suffer from heavier periods or cystitis, danger of dehydration if you're dancing on Ecstasy and forgett to drink enough

Violence

Theories of violence
Instinct: necessary for survival, energy, will and courage are forms of violence, means that violence is always with us and we can only find harmless ways of acting it out, such as sports competitions
Learn: we see it, hear it and imitate it, it is the result of a learning process, this means that we can get rid of it
Frustration: if we don't get what we want, this leads to aggressiv behaviour, often carry it out on things or other people

Lies about violence in the film industry
Violence in movies is harmless. Not everyone is influenced, but some can be. Commercials influece us, two hours of watching a stunnig film will probably do as well.
Violent films reflect the world like it is. The realty is not as violent as many films, at least we don't experience it like that.
You don't have to watch it, if you don't want it. Although, kids that did not see a film, they can know everythig about it. Hollywood and the mida should take more responsibility
(Die 3.Theorie fehlt mir. Hast du sie Hof? Buch der 7.Klasse, Seite 28/3, war ne Listening)

Security Cameras

advantages
criminals can be caught more easily, will make the streets safer, young people are rather kept from doing criminal things, cameras are cost-effective, authorities don't need to spend large amounts of money on police

disadvantages
many people feel like being in jail, many people don not trust governments with too much information, loss in freedom and privacy, corrupt authorities could use information in the wrong way or twist it to vitimize some groups, cameras and computers an make mistakes
Britain has got about 300 000 security cameras but they did not lower the crime rate.

Shakespearean Stage

On the South bank of the Tense river, you could get there by boat or across the London Bridge
several other entertainments besides (cock fighting, bull baiting, bear baiting
Globe Theatre was run by the Lord Chamberlain's Men (official theatre group of King James) and offered the best plays
performances usually began at two o'clock if the flag was flying.
Globe was an eight-sided building with a little roof round the perimeter and the centre open to the sky; When it rained, the audience got wet, but only the ones in the middle, the „groundlings“.
For one penny you could stand in the belly or the yard (groundlings)
Surrounding the yard, forming the walls of the theatre were three circular galleries covered by a roof of thatch. It was a penny extra to get there. You got a seat there and a cushion if you paid extra.

The forepart of the stage was thrusting into the yard with the audience standing on three sides.
At the back of the stage there was a curtained alcove (Nische) called „Tiring house“ with doors on either side for the entrances and exits of the actors.
Above the tiring house is the gallery fot the musicians, for balcony scenes and for rich men who wanted to show off. (You could even sit on the stage itself, if you could afford it) These guys sometimes interrupted the actors, talked among themselves and walked out in the middle of the play.
Above the gallery is the hut, a tiny house popping its head over the walls of the theatre. Here was kept the suspension gear for flying effects and here the flag was hoisted to announce the performances.
Actors could get wet as well if they were standing in the forefront of the stage.

Globe could hold 3000 people
You could by some refreshment, sausages, oranges, apples, a pot of ale.
It burnt down in 1613, fourteen years after it had been built, while the play „All is True“ about Henry VIII. To signal the entrence of the king a cannon was fired with a ball of paper and cloth and landed on the roof. Nobody mentioned it because of the stunning play. The straw caught fire and the theatre burnt down. Fortunately, everyone could leave the theatre befor the fire reached the galleries and nobody got injured, except for one man who's trousers caught fire, but he put the flames out by a por ale.
A new Globe was rebuilt in 1614 but Shakespear didn't write dramas any longer.

William Shakespear
born 24th April 1564 in Stretford-upon-Avon
married early at the age of 18, Ms Anne Hathaway who was 8 years older
became member of the „Lord Chamberlain's Men“ in 1593
wrote tragedies (Romeo and Juliett, Hamlet, Otello, Mac Beth), comedies (Midsummer night's dream, The taming of the shrew), history plays (Henry V, Richard III)

- "NA! I woit nimmer!!!!"

I just say: 1 1 1 4! I like it xD (mit einem 4er bekommt man keinen Erfolg, egal wie gut der Rest ist- so ne brunz Regel)

Gar nix. Is so umsonst, echt.^^
